Some breathing room. Sorta.
Winter term is finally over, my collaborative health program project is complete, and I have had this week to chill before I’m back at it again. Up next: Food & Society and Commercialization of Nutrition, and I’m actually really looking forward to these classes! Lots of theory, lots of thinking, lots of controversy and perspective…something we face every. damn. day. in this industry. Once classes start up again on Monday, I’ll be getting ready to head to Florida to see my grandparents. Then I’ll be photographing two back-to-back weddings the first weekend in May. I’ve got a busy several weeks ahead!
I’ve been working on getting this blog organized and balanced, too. You see, I have a dilemma. I’m in love with two very different things: nutrition and creative arts. I never expected photography to be my thing. Ever. So when that started taking off, I decided to start my own business and then the fun ideas began running through my head. Prints. Packaging. Website design. Branding. Props. Color. Writing. Calligraphy.
I. can’t. stop.
One thing you may not know about me is that art was my thing when I was younger. Sketching. Pastels. Pottery. I’m going to have to photograph some of the stuff I created sometime. So, maybe it shouldn’t be surprising that photography, as an art, became a part of me. So when all these fun designs and ideas came popping into my head, I decided to try my hand at calligraphy so I can design my own logos, create art for my clients, and pretty up my packaging with my own personal touch. As the girl who made sure she got the “best handwriting” award every year…wouldn’t ya know…I love it. Love it. (Oddly enough, Beans has just begun practicing her cursive so she’s ready for it in second grade! So exciting!)
And not to mention all the fun trips to the art store and the boxes full of art supplies I have on hand again…swoon.
I have to admit it, you guys…it’s been much harder trying to figure out how to revive this blog than I thought. It’s not as cut and dry as I was hoping. Haha. I’m trying to find balance and yet I just keep adding to my list of things I love and want to do with this space. I don’t want to let it go, but I
keep kept struggling with what to do with it. So, because I can’t make it about anything one thing in particular, I’m just going to let it go…and just be in my space here. I’ve changed my tagline and I’m working on a little bit of a redesign. I can’t let go of “live, love, & run”, and with my tagline as “eating to live. blessed to love. training to run.”, I never could think of what to do with the “love” in my title. Until now. Now my tagline suits all three things that really make up what make me happy (aside from my family and friends, of course).
Eating to live. (Nutrition)
Creating with love. (Creative Arts)
Training to run. (Running)
Call me cheesy, but I can’t help feel the need to have the perfect tagline. This one’s perfect…and indicative of the fact that because I can’t seem focus on one aspect of my life in this space of mine anymore, it’s going to be a conglomeration of what makes me tick. Nutrition, creative arts & DIY, and running/fitness. I’ll be sharing recipes, nutrition information, reviews, workouts, art projects and DIYs, and more about my own journey. Just a bunch of stuff that I hope you’ll enjoy. Trying to force myself to focus on one thing for this blog right now, with as busy as my mind has been!? I just can’t do it! lol
So with all of this going on, I’ve been more active on Pinterest and would LOVE to see you all on there! With that said, here’s to more writing, more sharing, and more fun!
QOTD: What’s your favorite way to balance all of the things you love so much??
