Plan of attack, take 2. #findyourfit

by Melissa on January 22, 2013

Have I ever mentioned that I may be a little scatterbrained?

How could I not?

I am, and some of my posts are good proof of that fine quality. This one won’t fall short either. Especially since my early morning started with a 5 year-old and whole bowl of raisin bran (and milk) on the floor. Bear with me.

Remember when I told you my plan of attack last week?

Remember when I told you to find your fit when it comes to your health and fitness?

Well, in that second post I happened to mention my little issue with workout DVD’s. We just don’t get along.

Do your thing.

Yes, I used this image again. Hehe.

I have three DVD’s I love.

Kathryn Budig’s Aim True Yoga

Yoga Journal: Yoga for Well-Being with Jason Crandell

Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea (when I’m pregnant, of course)

In case you were wondering. ;)

Oh, and I have started watching this amazing woman’s YouTube Channel. I have a minor mom crush on her. She knows this.

I get so easily bored and so easily frustrated having to watch them (DVD’s in general) while I’m working out. I don’t have time to watch them a few times before performing them either. The barre DVD’s didn’t make the list of keepers. Sigh. (At least not for the time being. I might try again someday.)

Then there’s Mondays.

Have any of you ever noticed you do so much better when you have at least a somewhat structured schedule? Rocket science, I know. Tuesdays and Thursdays are spent in class, so much of my day is structured around dropping the old, sassy one off at school, working out, dropping the little one off with my mother-in-law, and then hitting class. Then it’s time to pick up the little one, then the old, sassy one, and then I’m home. Structure. I love it. (This was also my favorite part of working full time.)

Mondays, though, are chaos. They’re never structured (though I’d like to make them that way) and they always fall on holidays or teacher/staff work days. Both kids are home creating havoc. (Which, by the way, is always nice. I can never get enough of my kids. And I say that honestly.)

Mondays are now my new rest days. Haha.

The plan of attack has changed.

  • Mondays: rest
  • Tuesdays: running & yoga
  • Wednesdays: strength training
  • Thursdays: running & yoga
  • Fridays: strength training
  • Saturdays: strength training
  • Sundays: running & yoga

So despite the fact that I just couldn’t wrap my creature-of-habit-with-distaste-for-workout-DVDs brain around the plan I concocted last week, I don’t mind adjusting it to fit my taste. I’m a lifter. I love free weights. I don’t mind going back to the tried-and-true…but, I got every run plus one in last week. I’d say that was success.

PS: Weight loss to-date: 4 pounds down. Slow and steady. We’re talking food tomorrow.

PERFECT solution for Mondays! Rest day! Smart. You are adjusting as you go, I think that is the only way to find your fit! Congrats on the weight loss friend!

I am SO NOT a fan of DVD’s! I am with you on this one. I have heard GREAT tings about the Budig DVD’s – I actually don’t own any yoga videos!

nice work! I also have switched my rest days to mondays because it seems I am so tired on that day the last thing i want to do is go to the gym so i end up skipping any ways. So make it a rest day!
