Before I hit my post on what I’d like to do as far as my goals for the next few months, as mentioned yesterday, I’ve gotta take care of some Playlist Thursday business.
A month or so ago, I happened to tweet Pavement Runner about needing to do a post on “songs that make you want to get a speeding ticket”. Guess who took me up on that suggestion? Such a cool guy.
You can check out who else has linked up today by heading here.
Here’s how it goes:
Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old. (I know that isn’t too long to be considered old, but music turnover happens quickly.)
Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.
Something to Consider: This is the wild card category. Feel free to list any song: old, current, guilty pleasure, underground, whatever.
Something Old
Song: P.O.D.
Artist: “Alive”
Quotable: “Sunshine upon my face; a new song for me to sing. Tell the world how I feel inside…I feel so alive, for the very first time, and I think I can fly.”
Side Note: UCONN, 2002. Fun stuff. I heard this on Pandora one day running, and my pace picked up instantly. It’s one of those songs that not only brings you back, but it pumps you up…and running makes me, well, feel so alive. Put me in a car with the song…that speeding ticket might just happen.
Something New
Song: “Still Getting It”
Artist: Foreign Beggars ft. Skrillex
Quotable: “Going ahead full speed in the lane still gettin’ it.”
Side Note: Electronic/dance music brings me back to doing 90 up the Mass Pike from UCONN to get to Boston for a girls night out dancing. Something about this song gets me every time.
Something to Consider
Song: “Pedal to the Metal”
Artist: Kazzer
Quotable: “Like a 454 with the 4 on the floor, deuce coupe coming at you, avoiding the capture…put the pedal to the metal and I’m off and never getting lost, which way will I turn when roads cross; press the pedal to the metal little more when it’s scary, but one thing is for sure, keep my foot on the floor.”
Side Note: Italian Job. Need I say more? I’ve been in love with Mini Coopers since the movie, and this song was played during the scene where they’re getting ready for their lift. This song’s been one seen on my playlist year after year, and it always gets me wanting to zip around. (PS: Is that Jon Heder lead singing? Wonder if he’s got some nun-chuck skills…)
This was tough…I had some Disturbed, Godsmack, and some Guns ‘n’ Roses in mind, too…but these top the list.
Oh geesh. And this. My inner teenager loves this. Sorry…I know that’s four songs.
So how about you? What songs get you pumped and willing to risk getting a ticket (or a one-mile PR)?

Fun fun! Honestly, never heard of any of those LOL but love the 2nd one. Going to have to look into that!
There’s something about some of Skrillex’s songs that get me all riled up. Some of them are TERRIBLE, but there are a few I love!
Love the Kazzer song! Think I’ll add that to my playlist!
How did I not know you went to UCONN???? My SIL & all my husbands friends went there, so we spent a considerable amount of time there.
Skrillex immediately makes anything cool and your legs fast.
POD? wow, we are going back with that one.
Cher Lloyd — I had never heard that song before, or of her actually. Posner has some good songs too. Not speedy ones, but good running ones.
Great list.
I love that last one!!!!!!!
OK, I have to admit that I don’t think that I’ve heard any of these songs before! I can definitely see what they make you wanna get a speeding ticket!
HEART your second pick. such a good song. I think all Electronic music makes me speed. haha
I totally remember Alive. I was in college too. So fun!
