Hey all! I had planned to get some posting done this weekend, but as many of you know, Virginia got slammed by some really nasty storms Friday night, and I’ve been exhausted ever since. I’ll post more about that later, but for now, I wanted to reveal my foodie penpal!
This was actually the first month that I’ve ever participated in the Foodie Penpal thang, and it was pretty cool how it all went down for me. I ended up getting Dayna (who doesn’t have a blog ) and found out that she only lives about an hour away from me! Funny how that happens.
I ended up receiving a box from Traci filled will most of the ingredients to a dish she learned to make while stationed in the Philippines. Apparently you can make this with anything from asparagus, bamboo shoots, green beans, crab, shrimp…you name it. I wish I had thought to send a recipe with mine!
My box included:
- Mayhaw Jelly (which I’ve never even heard of!)
- Rice Sticks
- Organic Soba Noodles
- Sesame Oil
- recipe & recipe holder
- fun glasses for the girls
I thought it was awesome that Traci thought to send something for the girls. They were all excited that someone sent them something, haha.
Maddie had an especially good time stealing Hannah’s glasses…and my healthy pina colada.
Thanks, again, Traci, for putting thought into what you sent me…and for including the girls.
To become a part of the Foodie Penpals Program, visit Lindsay!
Details on the program are as follows:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
Alright, I’m off to write up my Weekly Chase post! If you haven’t joined the fun, you should!!! Link up, grab a badge, and chase your goals! We had a really great first week turnout, and I would love to see more of you join in!!
